Love and Peace For Every One

Be Kinder Than Necessary – The Path to Peace, Respect & Human Dignity

Human beings, in every society and every age, seek respect and honor. It is a natural need of the heart, and it is fulfilled when others value our views, listen to us, and respond with dignity. Respect creates humility, and humility creates harmony.

    The Ethics of “Salam”

Islam—the religion of peace, mercy, and justice—places great emphasis on honoring others. The greeting “Salam” is not a formality; it is a powerful prayer. When a Muslim says Assalamu Alaikum, he is asking Allah to grant the other person peace, safety, and blessings.
Allah reminds us repeatedly that mutual love, compassion, and kindness are among His greatest gifts to humanity.

    Peace of Mind Through Grace

True peace of mind comes from living with love, empathy, and good character. The famous principle “love begets love” is not only a social truth but also an Islamic virtue. Unfortunately, in many families, elders use harsh words yet expect unconditional respect in return. This attitude is misguided.
It is a moral and religious duty for elders to speak gently and wisely. Soft and decent speech strengthens the confidence of younger family members. When children feel respected, they openly discuss personal matters with their parents. This protects them from harmful influences and the wrong company.

Parents provide for their children throughout life, but an equally important gift is creating an atmosphere where children can speak freely without fear. When this habit develops in the home, it shapes entire generations.

    Love Speaks Louder Than Anger

We often become strict with those who make mistakes, but we forget that we ourselves are not free from error. Before punishing someone, we should ask ourselves: Would I accept the same punishment if I were in their place?
Islam teaches that what we desire for ourselves, we must desire for others. Human nature seeks love, understanding, and a peaceful life. No one wants constant conflict or humiliation. Sometimes people compromise only to maintain peace, and later, that compromise becomes a source of comfort and happiness.

Sadly, many people forget love and respect after achieving success. Schools, colleges, and universities should include moral training so that students learn kindness and gratitude. Degrees are meaningless if they make us forget our parents and the people who supported us.

Lessons From a Life of Reading

My favorite hobby has always been reading, and through books, I discovered many keys to peaceful living. One important lesson is that what was correct in the past may not be correct today. Life changes, society changes, and wisdom grows when we accept new perspectives.

I used to think only my opinion was true, and this caused tension, anxiety, and unnecessary conflict. Later, I realized that others were often more correct than I. When I accepted this truth, my worries and inner turmoil disappeared. Alhamdulillah, Allah guided me toward clarity.

    Be Kinder Than Necessary

Kindness is not a weakness—it is strength, wisdom, and maturity. It benefits others, but it benefits us even more. Being kind, forgiving, and understanding extends life, increases peace, and brings us closer to Allah.

If we hurt others without reason, we risk hurting our own hearts. As many scholars say:
“When you hurt a human heart, Allah may hold you accountable. But when you heal a heart, Allah heals yours.”

Therefore, let us commit to being kinder than necessary—for our families, for our society, and for our own souls.
